Villa Quercia
A wonderful traditional tobacco tower with sweeping views over a classic Umbrian valley. Enjoy the beautiful 16 x 6 meter saline swimming pool or relax on one of the patios overlooking the pool. The pretty village of Petrelle is only 1km walk away and shops, bars and restaurants are all within 10 minutes drive in the nearest town, Trestina. The historic city of Citta di Castello where you will find a choice of bars, more restaurants and individual shops is around 25 minutes away.
The villa has been a labour of love (which at times has involved sweat, frustration and tears) for the Richard and Christina and their family over the last four years, transforming it from a rundown relic and former tobacco tower into a family friendly luxury holiday villa. Throughout the entire property traditional ceiling tiles and chestnut beams have been utilised and all floors have been laid with the traditional teracotta tiles of the region giving the property a very traditional and at the same time contemporary feeling. Also this means that the property is nice and cool in the hot summer evenings. All bathrooms have been finished to a very high standard with lovely tiles, sanitary wear and good showers. The property has been restored with a lot of attention to detail using local craftmanship.
The whole villa overlooks the swimming pool and the wonderful panoramic views of the Umbrian countryside. The property has a series of terraces going down from the villa giving guest a choice of areas for rest and relaxation or play. There is a large covered patio (see top right photo), adjoining the sitting room which is situated in the former tobacco tower, and which acts as an outdoor sitting room with wonderful panoramic views over the pristine Umbrian countryside. The villa has its own private woodlands just below one of the terraces where children can play once they are tired of the pool. There are two separate lounges one on each floor if parties wish to split up for an evening as well as all the outdoor space to relax or play in. Situated on the boarder to Tuscany (litterally 300 metres away) Villa Quercia is the perfect location for exploring both of these wonderful parts of Italy, giving you the perfect combination of relaxing by the pool and exploring the many fantastic sights of these regions.
